The short version: Konn3kt collects the minimum needed to run your account and the community: your email address, a display name, and your subscription status. Your music and projects stay on your device unless you choose to post them. We run no analytics, show no ads, use no trackers, and never sell or share your information.
This policy covers the Konn3kt desktop apps for macOS, the Konn3kt account system, The Signal community, and our website at konn3kted.com. "Konn3kt", "we", and "us" mean the operator of those services. It explains what we collect, why, who touches it, and the choices you have.
Your creative work is local first. Beats, projects, recordings, loops, sampler patterns, chopped samples, and app settings are saved on your Mac and are not uploaded to us. Microphone audio and MIDI input are processed on your device and are not transmitted or stored by us unless you deliberately save a recording into a post you upload. The only creative work that reaches our servers is audio you deliberately post to The Signal. Your sign-in session is also cached locally so you stay signed in. This local data stays on your Mac until you remove the app and its data folder (in ~/Library/Application Support).
We use the information above to create and secure your account, run the apps and your subscription, operate The Signal community, save your learning progress and hub layout, and send the small set of account emails listed below. That is the complete list of purposes. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or training AI models.

We never sell your personal information, and we never share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no marketing software development kits. Because there is no sale or sharing, there is nothing for a "Do Not Sell or Share" link to switch off.
There is one exception to the list above, and we want to be direct about it. We disclose account information and content when the law requires or clearly permits it: (1) if we obtain actual knowledge of apparent child sexual abuse material or child exploitation on The Signal, we are required by federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) to report it — including the content involved and associated account information we hold, such as email address — to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), which forwards reports to law enforcement, and to preserve the reported material for one year; (2) we respond to valid subpoenas, court orders, and other legal process; and (3) we may disclose information where necessary to protect the safety of a user or the public or to enforce our terms. These disclosures are legal obligations, not marketing; nothing in this section involves selling or sharing your information for advertising.
The fonts and open-source code libraries our apps and website use are served from the app itself and from our own website host, not from any third-party content delivery network, so no outside font or code service sees your connection. Profile pictures work the same way: we display an avatar only when it is hosted on our own storage, and we do not load profile pictures from outside services, so viewing a profile does not expose your device to a third-party image host.
Konn3kt uses first-party storage on your device only for things the app needs to work: your sign-in session, your preferences, your hub layout, and cached app data. We set no third-party cookies. We do not track you over time or across other websites, and we do not allow other parties to collect information about your activity across other sites through our services. Because there is no tracking or sale to opt out of, browser signals such as Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control do not change how we treat your data; you already get the behavior those signals ask for. If we ever begin selling or sharing personal information, we will honor Global Privacy Control signals as a valid opt-out before doing so.
Konn3kt asks for your microphone only when a tool needs it, for example Record, Forge, The Shed's voice check, or the audio-reactive visualizers, and for MIDI when you connect a keyboard or controller. The app blocks camera, location, and notification access at the application level.
That is the full list. We do not send marketing newsletters and we do not share your address with marketers.
You can review and update your display name, avatar, and settings at any time from the Account page in the app, and you can delete your account yourself from the same page, no email required. For anything else, email us at the address below and we can:
We voluntarily extend these rights to every user, wherever you live, including the rights California law gives consumers under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We will confirm your request from your account email address to make sure it is really you, and we will respond within 45 days — or within one month if you are in the EEA or the UK. Where the law allows us to extend that period for a complex request, we will tell you before the original deadline. Exercising any of these rights never changes your price or your service.
We keep each category of information only as long as it is needed:
We may keep information longer where the law requires it: for example, if content from your account was reported to NCMEC under federal child-safety law, we must preserve the reported content and associated records for one year, and we retain records needed to complete a transaction you started, maintain security, comply with a legal hold or legal process, or meet another legal obligation.
We use reasonable technical safeguards matched to the data we hold. Every database record is protected by row-level security scoped to your own account. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Uploaded audio lives in private storage and is served through short-lived signed links. Community writes are rate-limited and moderated. Secret keys are never shipped inside the app. No online service can promise perfect security, but we keep the amount of data we hold small so there is little to lose.
If a security breach affects your unencrypted personal information, we will notify you by email at your account address within the time required by applicable law, including California's 30-day notice requirement (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.82). The notice will say what happened, what information was involved, and what we are doing about it.
Konn3kt is a general-audience service. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a user is under 13, we will terminate the account and delete the personal information we collected from that user, unless a parent or guardian completes verifiable parental consent that satisfies federal law (COPPA). Parents and guardians can contact us at the address below to ask about, review, or request deletion of a child's information. We do not sell or share the personal information of any user, including users under 16. For users under 18, we apply our most protective settings by default: no advertising, no profiling, no behavioral tracking, no sale or sharing of personal information, and the same plain-language policies as everyone else, with reporting tools available directly in The Signal.
Konn3kt is operated from the United States and your information is processed and stored there. Where European law requires a safeguard for this transfer, we rely on our providers' European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, their certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. If you use Konn3kt from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information to perform our contract with you (your account, subscription, and the community), for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working, and with your consent where we specifically ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time. You have the rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object, and port your data, which we honor through the process in "Your rights and choices" above, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. Because we use only strictly necessary first-party storage, no cookie consent banner is required.
If we make a material change to this policy, we will announce it by email or in the app before it takes effect, and changes apply going forward, not retroactively. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
